I think yesterday’s  Homeland season 2 marathon played into some weird dreams I had last night, and maybe the headache I’ve had, too.

After sleeping in and a nice shower, I fixed steel cut oatmeal. It was exceptionally good this morning; I added Truvia and raisins to mine.

We finished season 3 of Homeland, and we are looking forward to season 4.

I gave Sasha her weekly bath she normally gets on Saturday today. Also did two brushing sessions. I could cover two Yorkies with what came off her today.

I replaced the AC filter today, too, and I believe we may be able to go 2 months in the winter, as the heat does not run as much as the AC in summer.

I slept in a little before we went to the Dog Park. Sasha had a great time and got really tired. Grace is now the tallest dog in the park, and she is a puppy still, although a Great Dane.

We stopped by Nico’s for burritos on the way home. I tried a sausage, egg and cheese for the first time, but it upset my stomach a bit. I probably won’t do that again, even though it was tasty.

We spent a big part of the day doing a Homeland Season 2 marathon, snacked for lunch, and had a Dream Dinners meatloaf meal for dinner. We went to bed a little late.

I had a slightly shorter walk than usual with Sasha this morning; it was still about 1.5 miles.

I’m very glad it is Friday, today. We had our IHOP leftovers for breakfast at the table. I’m glad we have gone back to eating there at least some of the time. We’d gotten into the habit of sitting side-by-side on the couch watching TV while we eat. The table is not only more conducive to conversation, we can more easily make eye contact, and don’t have the added distraction of TV. It helps me feel even more connected, and I feel it’s brought us closer.

The ride to work was pleasant, and I enjoyed listening to an audio book. I’m really liking the series; it’s not new, so I have many to listen to in succession, rather than having to wait in between. I’m already on Book 4 of the series, Wheel of Time (http://www.dragonmount.com/Books/index.php), by Robert Jordan. In the past, I’ve read some of his works, but not this series. It’s kind of funny how I decided to read/listen to the series. My brother, Mike, had the series of books on his shelf, and I asked him about it, and he said it was great. Somehow, I didn’t understand at first that he was passing on someone else’s opinion, not his own, since he had not yet read any of the books. After I had listened to the first part of the series, during my next visit with him, I asked what it was about the series he liked, and which character(s) appealed to him most. Well, of course, he just stared at me very confusedly, as if I had, without realizing, slipped into another language. Finally, he just said he hadn’t read them. I felt a little foolish, and realize I made an assumption I probably should not have.

For lunch, I finished up the last of the Curry Chicken Cathy made the other night with some rice. It’s a bit different from the usual recipe, but it was very good.

The ride home was okay; there was more traffic, so it took a little longer than I like. I listened to more of the book.

Ordered Pizza Hut Hawaiian Pizza for dinner just because. 🙂

Watched some TV and went to bed. Very glad some of our favorites are starting up again, like Elementary and Parenthood.

PartOfWhyIWorkI had a very nice walk this morning with Sasha. It was cold and clear, but, thankfully, not very windy.

The ride to work was fine, with no slowdowns.

There is, as usual, plenty to do at work, but things are humming along at a good pace. I have a small collection of items on my desk at work that help keep me aware that I’m Loved, and that, above and beyond the satisfaction of a job well done and the pay, I have more good reasons to work. Cathy gave me the plant when I first got this job. Sadly, I’ve let everything die except the pothos, which is still thriving. Two different items Cathy made for me, a collage and calendar, along with a Valentine’s Day card also remind me that she thinks I’m special. Two books she bought for me, a journal with keyboard keys on the cover and the ‘Now Panic…’ book remind me how well she knows her Geeky husband. I smile whenever I glance over to the right of my screens, and I feel better, regardless what else may be going on.

We had a wonderful evening; Cathy cooked a wonderful Salmon main dish to go with rice and broccoli. It was absolutely delicious. I made brownies, put the frosting on while they were hot, and now they are in the refrigerator, cooling. They are the best this way. We had some tonight, and they did not disappoint in the least.

This year starts with a wonderful day. We slept in some after last night’s party with Cathy (LOML) at the neighbors. We had a nice leisurely breakfast at IHOP, a wonderful Bike Ride on the path along River road, a nice Salad we both helped fix.

We watched some TV shows and relaxed, snacking on apple slices with Peanut Butter.

It was very good to discuss relationships and Aha moments with
Cathy. I really enjoy time spent growing together, working through
Life’s challenges, understanding more of Life’s intricacies.

I didn’t get around to taking down the Christmas Lights,

so that will have to be this weekend.

It’s awesome to see both the Christmas Cacti in bloom.ChristmasCactus20140101 Cathy’s done a wonderful job of taking care of these sensitive plants.

I know it’s a slow start, and I did not capture all the high points of the day, but I did get some.
